Australian compliance is now available for the new Nissan R35 GT-R in NSW & QLD under the Low Volume Scheme for new vehicles!! This means you will be seeing the new R35 GT-R registered and cruising the streets very soon ahead of Nissan's plans to bring the vehicle to Australia in 2009.
The Low Volume Scheme for new vehicles allows for the supply to the market of 25 vehicles per year for each approved workshop. There is currently one workshop in NSW & one in QLD approved for 25 plates each, so 50 GT-Rs in total are eligible for import into the country at this stage. However the term 'new vehicles' means that the imported R35 GT-R must have less than 300km (delivery kilometers) on the clock.
More compliance plates will soon follow now that the flood gates have opened to the import industry for the Nissan R35 GT-R. Given the circumstances of the approval it seems the R35 GT-R will only be inevitably available for an extremely short time, or until Nissan officially starts importing in full volume.
