Nissan Silvia S15 (200SX)

These rear wheel drive sports coupes were introduced to Japan in 1999 and are eligible for import only up until and including models with an August 2000 build date, as they were sold locally in Australia after this. The Silvia is available in a turbo and a non-turbo model, with a 6-speed manual, 5-speed manual or a 4-speed automatic transmission, however it's only the turbo version that is eligible for import.

The Nissan Silvia Spec-R with the SR20DET turbo engine & the Spec-S with the SR20DE non-turbo engine are the two models in the lineup. Both the Spec-R & the Spec-S models offer an Aero version with minor aerodynamic modifications and a large rear spoiler.

The Nissan Silvia Spec-R has the 6-speed manual or the 4-speed automatic transmission, increased body and suspension rigidity, 4-piston front brake callipers, a larger brake power booster, the superior helical limited slip differential, with HICAS (High Capacity Active Steering) four wheel steering as an option.

The spec-S (not eligible) only has the 5-speed manual or the 4-speed automatic transmission but lacks the additional support structures of the Spec-R, and has 2-piston front brake callipers, a slightly smaller brake power booster, and the viscous limited slip differential.

Further to the models above there is various luxury releases also eligible such as the "Spec-R Aero", Spec-R Aero Electromotive Super HICAS" (High Capacity Active Steering), Spec-R Electromotive Super HICAS", "Spec -R B ", Spec-S Aero, "Spec-S G" & "Spec-S B packages available in the import range.

A convertible version of the Nissan Silvia was produced from July 2000 and named "Varietta" built by Autech (Nissan's special-car division) with a folding retractable hard-top that neatly folds into the boot space in less than 20 seconds with the push of a button. The engine was the non turbo SR20DE from the Spec-S version with the same choice of 5-speed manual or 4-speed automatic transmissions, and this model has a slightly longer boot to accommodate the hardtop. The Nissan Varietta is eligible for import up until and including models with March 2002 build date.
