The new 12th generation Nissan Skyline V36 370GT 2-door coupe was introduced in 2007 and is eligible for import to Australia. Also known as the Infiniti G37 in America, this refined rear wheel drive grand touring coupe builds on the strengths and attributes of its predecessor the Nissan Skyline V35 adding style, performance, innovation, and safety to the well established Skyline brand.
The lineup consists of four main production models as listed below:
Nissan Skyline V36 370GT - base model with a single-piston sliding caliper (to all four wheels) braking package, 18 inch wheel and tyre package (225/50R18 front, 245/45R18 rear) with a 5-speed automatic transmission only.
Nissan Skyline V36 370GT Type P - same as 370GT base model but with leather interior and an Adaptive Steering Wheel and Door Mirror position system (moves with the drivers seat position).
Nissan Skyline V36 370GT Type S - four-wheel aluminium-caliper opposed-piston brakes designed to optimise the stroke at low speed and provide secure stopping power at higher speeds (four-piston calipers on the front wheels and two-piston calipers on rear wheels), Nissan's four-wheel active steering (4WAS) system which adjusts the steering-linked angles of front and rear wheels according to speed, making the vehicle more responsive to the driver at low and medium speeds, and stable and smooth during higher speeds, 19 inch wheel and tyre package (225/45R19 front, 245/40R19 rear), sports tuned suspension and aluminium pedals. Also available with unique front bumpers and matching side sill spoilers and the choice of a 5-speed automatic (with paddle shift) or 6-speed manual transmission.
Nissan Skyline V36 370GT Type SP - same as Type S model but with leather interior and an Adaptive Steering Wheel and Door Mirror position system (moves with the drivers seat position). All Nissan Skyline V36 370GT's come with the newly developed and innovative VQ37VHR 3.7-Litre VVEL (Variable Valve Event and Lift) V6 engine producing 245Kw of power and generating 90% of maximum torque between 2,400 and 7,000 rpm. The VVEL engine continuously changes the angle and lift of the intake valves, depending on the degree of acceleration and speed. The VQ37VHR also has fully symmetrical air intakes on the right and left to increase the amount of air and reduce pumping loss, significantly increasing responsiveness. All this leads to the new Nissan Skyline V36 having quick acceleration response, high power and low fuel-consumption with a cleaner exhuast.
Standard safety equipment includes rigid, safe Zone Body construction, driver and front passenger SRS Air Bag System, driver and front passenger SRS Side Air Bag System, SRS Curtain Air Bag System, Active Front Head Restraints and three-point ELR rear seat belts. Emergency Brake Operated Pre-crash Front Seat Belts are optionally available. Not only is the V36 Nissan Skyline safer for the occupants, it is also safer for the pedestrian with the new "pop-up engine hood" technology. On impact, sensors in the front bumper determine if the hood needs to be raised at the rear edge creating a larger buffer space between the hood and the hard engine components beneath. This helps cushion the impact of a pedestrian's head with the hood if an accident occurs.
The Nissan Skyline V36 370GT also features VDC (Vehicle Dynamic Control) which uses sensors to reduce over/under-steer by applying brake pressure or cutting power from individual wheels, four-wheel active steering (4WAS), a speed-sensitive hydraulic power steering system, the standard 4-wheel Anti-lock Braking System (ABS) also includes Electronic Braking Distribution (EBD) and Brake Assist (BA), while Intelligent Brake Assist is available as a manufacturer option.
The Nissan Skyline V36 370GT also has a variety of high-tech systems such as an Intelligent Key System that electronically locks the steering, immobilizes the engine and handles other tasks according to the key ID for enhanced theft prevention. Available as a manufacturer option is the Rear View and Blind-Side Monitor system that assists the driver when reversing, pulling into a curb or parallel parking by displaying the blind areas around the back or front left of the vehicle though the use of CCD cameras. There is also the manufacturer option of a HDD Carwings navigation system with a touch screen, music / DVD payer as well as bluetooth features. Another manufacturers option is the premium Bose audio system including a pair of three-way integrated speakers in the doors and four woofers in the doors and rear shelf.
